Car Player Terms of Use

Updated: September 7, 2026

These terms apply to your use of Car Player (“the App”), provided by Nanjing Oumi Software Development Co., Ltd. (南京欧米软件开发有限公司, “we”). Please read them before use, especially the provisions about vehicle safety, content rights, data deletion, and compatibility. For questions, contact contact@okaapps.com.

1. Services

The App is a video player and casting receiver. It imports videos from Photos, files, and folders; plays them on the phone or a connected CarPlay device; and receives media and control commands from compatible third-party apps over DLNA/UPnP. It does not provide a film or television library, third-party platform subscriptions, or authorization to view any content, and does not represent third-party content platforms.

The current version requires no account. Available features depend on your App version, operating system, devices, vehicle display, and chosen media. Playing and outputting video does not amount to mirroring every interface of another app.

2. Vehicle Safety

Drivers must keep their attention on driving and must not watch videos or operate video playback screens while driving. Videos on screens visible to the driver should be used only when lawfully and safely parked. Passenger use must not distract the driver or obscure necessary vehicle information.

Follow local traffic rules and the restrictions imposed by Apple, vehicle manufacturers, and vehicle systems. Do not use the App to bypass driving safety restrictions. The ability to cast does not mean that the current environment is suitable for watching videos.

3. Local Videos and Playback Settings

Imported videos are copied into the App, which creates library records and thumbnails. Import Folder scans identifiable videos in the chosen folder and its subfolders. Choose only directories you want processed and are authorized to access. Import and playback may require device storage; cloud files may need to be downloaded first.

You can choose the end behavior for local videos in Settings. Close When Finished stops playback and closes the player after the current video; Play Next Automatically continues in library order and closes after the final item; Repeat Video replays the current video until you stop or switch content.

You can select the system player, MPV, VLC, or Automatic. Automatic tries the system player, MPV, and VLC in that order, switching after a failure or loading timeout and trying to restore progress. Format, audio track, subtitle, and image support may differ among players. Switching cannot guarantee recovery of expired links, protected content, or content you are not authorized to access.

Selecting videos on the Local Videos page and confirming deletion removes the corresponding in-app copies, thumbnails, and import records. It does not delete originals in Photos or source folders. The App provides no recycle bin or cloud recovery for deleted copies; keep any originals you need. Closing playback alone does not delete imported videos.

4. Third-Party Casting and Compatibility

Receiving is enabled by default and can be turned off in Settings. Turning it off stops receiving casts and ends ongoing playback from other apps, while local playback remains available. Closing one playback session does not turn off the receiver; while it is enabled, other compatible senders may start new sessions.

Casting requires the sender to discover the App and provide media the player can access and decode. Network isolation, expired links, login or authentication requirements, digital rights protection, platform restrictions, system versions, codecs, and vehicle capabilities may affect results. We maintain compatibility but do not guarantee every third-party app, video address, or vehicle. The App does not offer decryption or bypass access controls.

Network videos load from their content-source servers and are subject to the provider’s terms. Playback through the App does not grant a platform subscription or expand an existing license. Network and other service charges are billed by your carrier or provider according to your agreements.

5. Optional Casting Enhancement

Casting enhancement must be enabled by you and requires approval of a system VPN configuration. It primarily assists local casting device discovery. The current implementation handles only designated discovery multicast traffic, has no remote VPN exit, and is not a general internet proxy or anonymous browsing service.

This feature is subject to iOS networking behavior and may conflict with other VPN configurations or particular networks. It cannot guarantee improved discovery with every connection type. You can stop it and manage or remove its configuration in iOS Settings. Stopping it does not necessarily remove the saved system configuration.

6. Content and Permitted Use

You must ensure you have the right to access, copy, and play imported or cast content on your chosen devices, respecting copyright, image rights, privacy, and third-party platforms’ lawful interests. Do not use the App to distribute unlawful content, publicly show content without authorization, bypass copyright protection, or intrude on or disrupt others’ devices and networks.

Rights to your videos and their contents remain with you or their original rights holders. Using the App does not transfer them to us or grant us a license to use videos for public distribution, commercial promotion, or model training. The App processes them only as necessary for the import, display, playback, and control you choose.

7. Software License and Third Parties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, these terms, and distribution-platform rules, we grant a non-exclusive, non-sublicensable license to install and use the App on devices you are entitled to use. Rights in the software, interface, trademarks, and other App elements belong to us or the respective rights holders. Separately licensed third-party components remain governed by their own licenses.

License information for MPVKit, libmpv, FFmpeg, VLCKit, libVLC, and other open-source components is available under Settings—Help—About—Open-Source Licenses. These terms do not restrict rights expressly granted by those licenses, including reverse engineering to debug modifications to open-source libraries.

Except where permitted by law or the rights holder’s license, do not copy or distribute the App without authorization, impersonate the App or us to provide services, or disrupt its normal operation. Apple, CarPlay, and third-party platform names and marks belong to their respective owners. Compatibility does not imply endorsement of every use.

8. Privacy and Permissions

See the Privacy Policy in Settings for information about video copies, receiver information, network requests, system logs, retention, and deletion. Receiving controls, system permissions, video deletion, and enhancement settings let you manage the relevant processing. These terms do not replace separate consent or system authorization required by law.

The current version requires no account. Do not send us third-party passwords, verification codes, or unnecessary private videos. Provide only the information needed to resolve your support request.

9. Updates, Ending Use, and Liability

We reasonably maintain the App, but software and network services may be interrupted by faults, system updates, device incompatibility, or changes to third-party services. We address problems within our responsibility. If core features need substantial changes or service must end, we will give advance notice where reasonably practicable and remind you to manage relevant local data.

You may stop playback, turn off receiving or enhancement, or delete the App at any time to stop using it. Ending use does not automatically cancel third-party services or contracts, or clear data already retained by third parties or the system.

Each party is responsible for losses according to applicable law, fault, and causation. These terms do not exempt us from liability imposed by law, exclude liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or other non-excludable circumstances, or limit statutory consumer remedies.

10. Minors, Changes, and Disputes

Minors should read and use the App with a guardian’s guidance, with the guardian helping assess appropriate content and contexts. The vehicle safety requirements above also apply.

We may revise these terms as features or legal requirements change and update the date shown. Changes materially affecting your rights and obligations will be communicated appropriately, and consent procedures required by law will be followed. Updating the text alone will not retroactively change rights and obligations arising from past events.

The formation, performance, and dispute resolution of these terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without excluding mandatory consumer protections applicable where you live. You may contact us to seek a resolution, seek relief from appropriate bodies, or bring proceedings in a people’s court with jurisdiction as permitted by law. If an individual provision is invalid, the remaining independently applicable provisions remain effective.
